The federal government of Nigeria has commissioned the first Compressed Natural Gas station in the North-East and distributed six CNG-powered ambulances to selected healthcare institutions in Bauchi State.
Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate while commissioning the project at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi says is part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve access to emergency medical services.
This CNG station is designed to provide an alternative and potentially more economical fuel source for vehicles serving the healthcare sector, while supporting the Federal Government’s broader initiative to promote the use of cleaner and more affordable energy.
The coordinating minister of Health and social welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate who commissioned the facility said the initiative forms part of measures to improve the efficiency and sustainability of Nigeria’s health system, particularly in the area of emergency transportation.
Six CNG ambulances were presented to 6 selected healthcare institutions to enhance the transportation of patients, particularly those requiring urgent medical attention.
The commissioning of the CNG station and deployment of the ambulances are expected to contribute to more efficient healthcare transportation while complementing the ongoing efforts to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare services.
