The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed an incident involving a private aircraft near Asaba, after the aircraft reportedly missed its approach and landed on a roadway in Ogwashi-Uku.

According to NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, the incident occurred at approximately 7:43 a.m. local time on June 10, 2026. All four crew members exited the aircraft safely, with no injuries reported.

The NCAA disclosed that the aircraft later departed the site for Lagos without regulatory approval, a move that allegedly violated the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations. Air Traffic Control was reportedly informed only after the aircraft had already taken off.

Following its arrival in Lagos, the aircraft was grounded by the NCAA, while the crew and operator are now under regulatory review. The authority has also suspended the operator’s Permit for Non-Commercial Flight (PNCF) pending a comprehensive review of operational and maintenance records.

The NCAA says it is working closely with the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency to determine the circumstances surrounding both the emergency landing and the unauthorized departure.
