For Jide ‘Jblaze’ Oyegbile, starting his acting career at the age of 7 did set a tone for the direction of a career in filmmaking despite his academic background in Medicine. From school plays, church dramas and a strong interest watching films like Owo Blow, Dangerous Twins and Agbara Nla, Jide Oyegbile has been able to use these early experiences to form a background of passion in being a filmmaker. Fondly called Jblaze, he says Medicine and acting both impact lives; a visual language as a film director or actor and saving lives in a hospital. His numerous monologues over the years have drawn him close to filmmakers and made him popular on social media.

After the finishing from medical school, completing his housemanship and serving his country around 2018, Jblaze explored his freedom by going deeper into acting and this brought him to Lagos where he explored a few projects including playing lead on The House Helps, a Nigerian comedy web series on youtube directed by JJC Skillz for Scene One Productions in 2019. Prior to this time, a friendship with Damilola Mike-Bamiloye back at Bowen University around 2011 opened opportunities for him in some Mount Zion film productions.

In 2018, Jide Oyegbile met the likes of Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju and Kemi Adetiba at the Accelerate Filmmaker Project and that was transformational for the next phase of his journey in filmmaking. His passion for creating monologues enabled his participation in the ‘Stay-At-Home’ challenge for King of Boys during covid 19, a challenge he won after a few rounds and that earned him a one-year ambassadorial deal with the sponsors, Malta Guinness, and to also be a cast of King of Boys 2. Having a professional experience as Action Sequence Consultant for King of Boys and as assistant director on films like ‘To Kill A Monkey’ and the highly anticipated Finding Messiah by Oscar Heman-Ackah opened his mind more about filmmaking, especially knowing that his first film in 2014 wasn’t great but a learning curve.

His career got more attention when his short film, Brukaci (a project that gulped most of his finances) won best short film award at the 2025 AMVCA. The short film was recognized for its compelling storytelling and was also nominated for Best Use of Makeup, marking a major win for the filmmaker at the prestigious ceremony. According to Jblaze, Brukaci is still in works as a feature length and series sequel, but it requires a lot of budgets.

There seems to be no slowing down for Jblaze as he continues to challenge himself with exceptional work, including directing 2026 drama, A flicker of Us featuring Bamike ‘Bambam’ Adenibuyan, Ayoola Ayolola and Bolaji Ogunmola who also doubled as Producer. A film that has been praised as a strong addition to the 2026 Nollywood lineup.
