In the southwestern part of Muğla, away from the popular beaches, mountains, and ancient tourist sites, there is a place called Lagina. It is known for having the biggest ancient temple built for Hekate, a Greek goddess believed to be connected to witchcraft, the moon, spirits, and crossroads. The site is about one hour from Akyaka, and even today, people from different parts of the world still visit the temple to pray, show respect, and leave gifts or offerings in her honor. Because of this, the place is not only important for history and archaeology, but it is also still seen by many as a spiritual and sacred location.
