It was indeed a moment of accomplishment for the Nigerian Televison Authority in Jalingo after the Governor, Agbu Kefas reaffirming his commitment to state’s development, promising access road to the news outlet.
The pledge was prompted by a request made by the Director-General of NTA, Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos, during the activities marking the 35th anniversary of the creation of Taraba State. The DG was among the heads of Government Agencies who accompanied the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, to the anniversary activities in the state.
The request for the construction of the access road was aimed at addressing one of the major infrastructural challenges confronting the NTA Jalingo station.
The Governor, in response, pledged the state government’s intervention in the construction of the road, a development expected to significantly improve access to the station.
For staff and guests, this is indeed a means for easy and better proximity to and off the premises, especially during the rainy season which eventually equates better working environment and commitment to public broadcasting responsibilities.
The commitment also comes at a time when the Nigerian Television Authority is undergoing a broader infrastructural renewal aimed at repositioning the nation’s premier television network and strengthening its capacity to deliver quality broadcast services to Nigerians.
Improved infrastructure remains critical to the operations of broadcast stations, providing the necessary environment for personnel, equipment and other resources required for effective news gathering and dissemination.
As the Taraba State Government moves towards fulfilling the commitment, attention will now turn to the implementation of the project and its potential impact on the operations of NTA Jalingo. For the NTA Jalingo station, it could indeed be a road to better broadcasting.
