Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan triumphed in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Paris Diamond League, clocking a season-best time of 12.28 seconds despite intense heat. Amusan executed a powerful finish, pulling ahead of Dutch athlete Nadine Visser and the American duo of Grace Stark and Alaysha Johnson to secure victory.

The previous Paris Diamond League meeting record was held by American hurdler Grace Stark, who set a personal-best time of 12.21 seconds in May 2025, winning the race ahead of Tobi Amusan. Prior to her victory in Paris, Amusan had built strong momentum by clinching the African Championship title, successfully defending her gold medal in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2026 African Athletics Championships in Accra, Ghana. She clocked 12.83 seconds to secure her third consecutive continental gold in the event.

Tobi Amusan also secured multiple podium finishes throughout the Diamond League circuit, including a victory in Taiwan. Her series of performances leading up to the Paris meet demonstrated a steady progression back to her peak form.

Following her victory in Paris, Tobi Amusan will next compete at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon, on July 4, 2026. This Diamond League meet holds special career significance for Amusan, as Hayward Field is the very track where she broke the world record in 2022 with a time of 12.12 seconds. Her win in Paris has propelled her up the standings, earning vital qualification points as she pursues her fourth Diamond Trophy and aims to secure a spot in the Diamond League Final in Zurich.

Tobi Amusan will enter this year’s Commonwealth Games as the heavy favorite to defend her 100m hurdles crown, having been officially named to the Nigerian squad for the games in Glasgow, Scotland. The competition is scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 2, 2026, where Amusan will look to extend her dominance on the international stage.
