On June 14, 2026, Ciryl Gane defeated Alex Pereira to capture an interim heavyweight title in the co-main event of UFC Freedom 250 on the South Lawn of the White House. Attended by President Donald Trump for his 80th birthday, the historic open-air, seven-fight card featured a special arena dubbed “The Claw”

Gane’s heavyweight size and devastating power proved to be the deciding factors, completely shutting down Pereira’s bid to become the first three-division champion in UFC history.

During his Octagon interview, Gane expressed immense pride in his team’s game plan and instantly pivoted toward calling out undisputed champion Tom Aspinall for a unification bout. Meanwhile, the 38-year-old Pereira acknowledged the massive risk of moving up to heavyweight and stated he would consult his team before deciding whether to stay in the division or return to light heavyweight.
