Banjul Hosts Africa’s Biggest Broadcast Gathering – Celebrating 20 Years of Impact

The 17th Annual General Meeting and Assembly of the African Union of Broadcasting has begun in Banjul, Gambia.


The 17th AGM is coming at a time when the AUB is marking its 20th anniversary, having come into existence in 2006 in Abuja, Nigeria, when URTNA was expanded to cater for more and develop the African Broadcast Industry.


The Gambian Minister of Information, Dr Ebrahim Cisse, who declared the event open, acknowledged the strive Africa has made in the last two decades of AUB through partnerships and collaborations between African Media and Global media.


He insisted that Africans must tell their African stories to counter misrepresentations and stereotypes of foreign media.
The 17 th AUB has the theme: Heritage, Innovation and Transformation.


The four-day event will feature panel discussions on different topics, media awards and fundraising to support Cancer on the continent.
