The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ending illegal mining as part of broader efforts to unlock the economic potential of Nigeria’s solid minerals sector under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The assurance was given by Henry Dele Alake and Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo during the inauguration of operational gun trucks for the Mining Marshals of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Abuja.

The deployment of the vehicles is expected to strengthen surveillance, enforcement, and rapid response capabilities in the fight against illegal mining activities across the country.

Government officials emphasized that curbing illegal mining is essential to attracting investment, increasing revenue generation, protecting mineral resources, and creating sustainable economic opportunities within the sector.
