The foundation has been laid for the construction of an ultra-modern livestock processing facility in Edo State, marking a major milestone in Nigeria’s drive to modernise the livestock sector.

The project, which will process about 200 cattle and 500 small ruminants, is expected to create more than 5,000 direct and indirect jobs, while strengthening the livestock value chain and boosting food production.

The groundbreaking ceremony was performed by the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, during his working visit to the state, where he also inaugurated projects executed under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, a World Bank-supported initiative.

The facility is expected to improve meat processing standards, encourage private sector investment, generate employment, and enhance Nigeria’s livestock industry.
