Niger Sets Up Probe Into Deaths of 37 Miners in NSCDC Custody

The Niger State Government has constituted an investigative committee to ascertain the root cause of the deaths of 37 suspected illegal miners who died while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Niger State Command.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago disclosed the directive during a press conference as authorities move to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation is expected to examine the events leading to the deaths and provide findings that will guide further action by the state government.
