British comedian and actor Russell Brand has been found guilty of rape and sexual assault following a trial at Southwark Crown Court in London.
A jury on Thursday, November 5, 2026, convicted the 51-year-old of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault involving four women, following a four-week trial.
Brand had pleaded not guilty to the charges, which arose from allegations of sexual offences committed between 2004 and 2009. He was acquitted of two other counts of rape and one count of attempted indecent assault.
Following the verdict, Judge Mr Justice Bennathan said Brand should expect a significant custodial sentence and ordered that he be remanded in custody ahead of sentencing on Monday, November 9.
The convictions followed evidence from six women who accused Brand of sexual misconduct during the period covered by the trial.

Russell Brand rose to prominence in Britain through stand-up comedy and television presenting before establishing an international acting career.
Over the years, Brand’s career expanded beyond entertainment into political commentary, online broadcasting and discussions on spirituality and wellness. His public profile also grew through his relationships with celebrities, including his former marriage to American singer Katy Perry.
The allegations reported in 2023 marked a significant turning point in his public career, leading to criminal investigations and subsequent court proceedings.
