Veteran Nollywood Actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, famously known as RMD, turns 65 and reflects on the day with stunning photos and deep quotes.

With a career that began in the 1980s, RMD continues to make significant contributions to the Nigerian film industry as an actor, writer, and producer. Celebrating his 65th birthday, he took to Instagram to reflect on his journey, writing, “Loving the process of closing chapter 64 with gratitude, grace, and fortitude.” He added, “Time has been kind, the journey even kinder. Every scar became a lesson, every victory a reminder, and every challenge another reason to keep showing up with purpose.”

Richard Mofe-Damijo won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2005. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2016, and in 2024, he was honored with the Industry Merit Award—alongside Idowu Philips (Iya Rainbow)—at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

One of his posts leads with the powerful phrase: “65 years of Purpose. Presence. Grace.” RMD expresses his approach to this milestone—embracing what was, celebrating what is, and welcoming all that is yet to come. These insightful reflections come from a veteran who has made significant contributions to journalism, culture, and the arts, and who continues to thrive as a major force in the industry. He added, “I’ve lived long enough to know that life owes us nothing… Yet, by God’s grace, it has given me everything that truly matters.”

RMD is grateful for the privilege to dream, the courage to begin, the strength to endure, the wisdom to evolve, and the grace to remain. Not every actor possesses the ability to take a break and return to the creative space with the same charm and aura that can flourish for years after. Yet, RMD stands out as one of the most stylish and enduring figures in Nollywood—a force whose influence persists despite the ever-growing pool of talent in the film and television industry.

This Nollywood legend officially became a chief on December 23, 2024, when he was conferred with a royal chieftaincy title in his native Udu Kingdom, Delta State, Nigeria. Prior to this honour, he was also celebrated within the entertainment industry on August 27, 2014, when the Nollywood Igbo Film Festival bestowed upon him the title “Dike Oha na Nollywood” (Warrior/Hero of the People in Nollywood) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Nigerian film industry.

RMD says the journey continues, adding, “Age has its privileges and one of them is becoming comfortable in your own skin. The rest… is GRACE.”
