Despite the rise of the digital age, the Nigerian Television Authority continues to bridge the gap between traditional and digital media by striving for quality broadcasting. This commitment is exemplified by the unveiling of a state-of-the-art studio dedicated to enhancing its news broadcasts.
This laudable project is part of the Federal Government’s commitment to transforming Nigeria’s public media landscape with the unveiling of state-of-the-art broadcast studios at the NTA Headquarters in Abuja.
During a tour of the newly upgraded facilities, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the investment marks a major step toward modernising public broadcasting, enhancing content quality, embracing cutting-edge technology, and positioning Nigerian media to compete on the global stage.
The Director General of NTA, Mallam Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos, affirmed that the new studio sets a broadcast standard capable of standing head-to-head with top global media organizations around the world.
In a chat with Bright Ekemini Itauma, a lighting designer and member of Deep Vision—the company responsible for the entire setup—he explained that the goal was to create a world-class standard, featuring elements like an LED wall screen that could represent Nigerian broadcasting on a global stage.
The project, which took months of meticulous planning and required equipment to be flown in from the United Kingdom, resulted in a news desk setup with fully customizable wall colours. Itauma described the set as not only durable but also portable, allowing it to be relocated as needed.
The new news broadcast studio is equipped with an LED screen, lighting mixer, Blackmagic cameras, advanced camera control systems, a state-of-the-art control room, and the capability to transmit to multiple channels simultaneously.
